As part of Evonith’s People First initiative, we have always strived to identify and address the needs of our community. One such issue we discovered was the abandonment of male calves by cattle breeders, as they were deemed economically less useful compared to their female counterparts. Determined to make a positive impact, we took action.
In collaboration with an NGO, we introduced an artificial insemination initiative to increase the likelihood of female calf births. Since its launch in July 2022, we have actively raised awareness about sorted semen among 405 participants and successfully carried out insemination procedures for their cattle. As a result, we have confirmed 169 pregnancies, with many more expected in the coming months.
This initiative will greatly benefit numerous families, as we anticipate the birth of 100 new female calves by the end of this year. This, in turn, will lead to a significant increase of approximately 30% in milk production and generate around 20 lakhs in wealth for the cattle breeding families.
Artificial insemination offers a range of advantages, including genetic improvement, disease control, resource allocation, safety, data analysis, and increased productivity. By embracing this modern cattle breeding practice, we are empowering cattle breeders to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to the overall growth of the community.
