Our mission is to enhance the lives of all who are involved with us, directly and indirectly, whether it be our valued business partners, loyal customers or dedicated employees. We’re deeply committed to the communities we serve, particularly in Wardha and beyond. We know that we’re not just a company, but an integral part of the local fabric.
Therefore, at the heart of our activities lies a dedication to the betterment of our neighbouring communities. Through our focused efforts in education, healthcare, and livelihoods, we have touched the lives of over five hundred thousand individuals. Our commitment to sustainable development fuels our passion for furthering all-around social progress, both for the present and the future.
We strive to make a positive impact in the Education, Healthcare and Rural Livelihood sectors with our initiatives. We aim to make a lasting and sustainable difference in the lives of those we serve. We believe in creating solutions that can be replicated, scaled, and have a long-term impact. Ultimately, our success is measured by the improved livelihoods and well-being of our beneficiaries.
Here are some of our contributions:
Ten extraordinary students from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s Lloyds Vidya Niketan have been selflessly investing their time and energy into an education project. Over the last two months, they’ve been visiting Inzahpur Zilla Parishad school to teach spoken English through play methods and peer support. These students aren’t just winging it – they’ve created their own syllabus, prepped materials, and devoted a minimum of two hours at the ZP school to help kids learn valuable communication skills.
The result has been a supportive, educational, and flat-out fun environment. This is just the beginning – this program serves as a trial for an exciting upcoming peer support project between the two schools. The benefits are nothing short of astounding – BVB students are developing crucial leadership skills, opening their minds to new perspectives, and making a huge difference in the lives of these village kids.
We cannot be prouder that we have brought the game-changing triumph of innovation to the villages near Wardha. E-education digital screens have been installed with flawless precision in neighbouring village schools, bringing the world of learning to students in ways never before possible. For 2 hours every day, these screens light up with spellbinding stories and captivating poems in Marathi and Hindi, revolutionizing education most brilliantly.
Take Inzapur’s Zilla Parishad school, for example. With an average of 40 students spanning classes 1-6 and only one teacher, the challenge of providing quality education was staggering. But fear not, for the digital screen has come to the rescue! The teacher joyfully reports that the screen has made their job infinitely easier, offering detailed and engaging material for each class.
These digital screens are more than just a tool; they are a beacon of hope for a brighter future, one where quality education is accessible to all.
A Rural Livelihood Program has been initiated for 5 villages around our factory site. This program focuses on helping improve the already existing livelihoods, by focusing on women farmer beneficiaries through the below four areas over a period of 3 years:
Our team has accomplished several feats in various villages around the area. We repaired toilets at Zilla Parishad school in Inzhapur while also giving the compound wall in Chitoda a fresh coat of paint. But that’s not all – we built water filters in both Bhugaon and Selukate, and we’re completing a bridge by the end of the month. We even managed to provide numerous trucks of slag to villages to help with construction projects. We didn’t forget about education – we were thrilled to provide desks and benches to the school in Selukate. But our work is far from done, as we’re currently in the process of constructing boundary walls and toilets for village schools. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to make a difference in these communities.
We launched a Rural Livelihood Program in July 2022 for 5 villages near the Wardha Steel Complex. Our focus is on empowering women farmers over the next 3 years. We introduced climate-smart agriculture practices, like double cropping and drip irrigation, to boost yields. We also taught dairy farming techniques, like Sorted Semen Artificial Insemination and green fodder cultivation, to create an additional source of income. Moreover, small-scale enterprises, such as Vermicompost and soap making, were established through existing Women Self Help Groups. We spread awareness about the project through Gram Sabhas and formed Village Development Committees to select direct beneficiaries.
And to be frank, we’re not just boosting milk production, we’re taking agricultural techniques to the next level! With artificial insemination for families’ cattle and cost-efficient practices for local communities, we’re revolutionizing rural livelihoods. And it doesn’t stop there. We’ve provided a few hundred beneficiaries with everything from drip irrigation to biogas plants and even introduced new-age farming practices to numerous demo plots. We’re not just creating opportunities, we’re empowering individuals through independent business ventures like vermicomposting and spices in Selukate. And the best part? Our objective is to keep track of the income improvement that comes from these activities over the last year. We’re changing lives and building a brighter future – that’s what we call progress.
We’re making a huge difference in the health and wellness of seven local villages surrounding our plant. Our mobile health van is providing free check-ups and medication to approximately one thousand people every month! Our amazing team, including a highly trained female doctor and nurse, is tackling common issues like diabetes, fungal infections, and high blood pressure.
And it’s not just physical health we’re focused on – we’re partnering with Mamta, an organization specializing in sexual health, to provide even more support and education on this important topic. Plus, our upcoming program extension is going to be a game-changer: we’ll be training women from each village in sexual health, sanitation, and safety, ensuring a sustainable and long-lasting impact on the community. We’re proud of the work we’re doing – and excited to see the positive impact
From the positive feedback we received from our firsthealth camp in May 2022 in Bhugaon, we knew we were headed in the right direction. In June, our team held four more health camps in neighbouring villages – Inzapur, Chitodha, Barbadi and Selukata – with each camp having several doctors available for general checkups and medical prescriptions. This was achieved in collaboration with Sevagram Hospital and our wonderful staff and colony volunteers.
We were able to reach hundreds of people in these villages and address several common issues and infections. It brings us great joy to be making a difference in people’s lives and we look forward to continuing our efforts in improving healthcare accessibility.
At our company, we take the health and well-being of our community seriously – especially when it comes to women. That’s why we’re proud to have recently hosted a Women’s Health Camp, which brought together nearly several hundred women from five nearby villages. Throughout the two-day event, four experienced gynaecologists conducted thorough exams and provided critical education on reproductive health concerns such as anaemia, early menopause, and menstrual health issues.
We’re not content to stop there, though. Our team is committed to creating long-term programmes that will continue to raise awareness of menstrual health and hygiene and provide the kind of reliable support system that all women deserve.
