At Evonith Steel, we believe in going beyond profits and ensuring that no one is left behind. As part of our People-First initiatives, we have taken a step towards uplifting the social status of neighbouring villages.
We identified 50 farms in the surrounding five villages where crop yields were impacted by factors such as soil health, income instability, and lack of awareness about organic sources. Our goal was to empower these farmers, teach them climate-smart agricultural practices, promote livestock development, and foster soil and water conservation, ultimately increasing their per-acre income.
To achieve this, we established vermicompost units on these farms, enabling them to grow toxic-free yields and reduce dependency on expensive fertilizers. Every 45 days, the 50 farmers’ families will produce a whopping 25,000 kilograms of vermicompost, with a market value of Rs. 250,000. The best part? This process can be repeated without any added cost, benefiting them in the long run.
In addition, we provided the farmers with demo plots and seeds to cultivate climate-resilient varieties of wheat, gram, vegetables, and floriculture on 35 acres of land. We are thrilled to report that participating in these initiatives resulted in an average income increase of 20% compared to last year, empowering these farmers to thrive.
#HereForImpact is not just a hashtag for us, but a testament to our commitment to creating a positive and sustainable change in the lives of those around us. We are proud to stand alongside these farmers, fostering growth, and helping them build a brighter future.
Stay tuned for more updates on our People-First initiatives as we continue our journey to become new-age steel makers with a vision that extends far beyond profits.
